Justin Boudreau and Greg Evans have traveled the world
conducting student workshops, including our very own GEAR UP Student Leadership Event. Justin and Greg are available the week of October 28 – November 1, 2013
to conduct one-day Student Leadership Events at 5 Oregon GEAR UP schools. In
addition to the student leadership component, Greg Evans could conduct a 1 -2
hour workshop for educators.
The fee for each event is $4,000 and must be paid by the
participating school; GEAR UP funds may be used. If adjustments need to be made
to your GEAR UP plan to accommodate this, contact Susie Snelling (susie_snelling@ous.edu).
The GEAR UP office will handle contracting, coordinate the
week’s schedule, and cover travel costs for Justin and Greg.
Participating schools will have to:
- Be somewhat flexible. The travel schedule will depend on the locations of participating schools.
- Provide a space for the event. A room where desks can be removed with stackable chairs is perfect. Gyms are not ideal for sound and typically are too big. Theaters are also not ideal.
Planning details:
- This is an all-day event.
- 60-80 is a great number of students to work with, but up to 100 can be accommodated.
- It is best to choose either 6th – 8th graders or 9th – 12th graders, but it is okay to mix.
- Click here for a schedule and brief description of the day.
If your school is interested in participating in this
exciting opportunity, email Anne Stephens (anne_stephens@ous.edu) by September 6.
Include in the email your preferred date, all possible dates, and student
population served by this event (number and grade levels). Priority will be
given based on things such as the order in which schools respond and
availability on assigned date.
